Astro Shooting Stars gymnastics programme starts at 18months with parent and child classes, moving onto 3 - 5yrs pre-school classes, then onto Primary classes.  The programme is centered around the fundamentals of movement.  Children learn to balance, roll, jump, rebound, turn, climb, throw, catch as well as learning the social aspects of a class environment - standing in line, taking turns, listening etc.  The pre-school session is delivered as a structured class using music and action songs, hand apparatus and large specialist gymnastics equipment to explore recognised themes ie the seasons, the circus etc. The Primary classes take part in the Scottish Gymnastics Award Scheme where gymnasts gain certificates and badges.  Our programme leads into all sports, teaching the basic skills required for physical development – motor skills, co-ordination, strength, flexibility, posture, discipline…and it’s fun!!  At around 7yrs, children can move into our main gymnastics groups working towards competitions, displays or just coming along for fun!
